Verstappen and McLaren have been nominated for the Laureus award.

At the Laureus World Sports Awards, Max Verstappen has been nominated for Sportsman of the Year, and the McLaren team has received a nomination for Team of the Year.
Verstappen was already crowned in 2022, winning this prestigious award as a two-time F1 world champion. However, this year the Red Bull driver faces serious competition, with tennis player Carlos Alcaraz and two-time Olympic champion pole vaulter Armand Duplantis among the nominees.
This is not the only F1-related aspect of the Laureus, as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri's performance last year meant that McLaren secured a constructors' F1 championship title for the first time since 1998. This success also earned a nomination, but the competitors are not to be underestimated, as the Spanish national football team, Real Madrid footballers, the Boston Celtics NBA team, and the Team USA men's basketball team are all vying for the title.
For McLaren, winning will be much more challenging, as the last time a Formula 1 team received this recognition was in 2018, after winning four consecutive constructors' championships. I don't think they need an introduction. On April 21, 2025, it will be revealed whether Norris and his team can follow in Mercedes' footsteps.
