Showlin: "There is no other competitor like Lewis Hamilton!"
2025-01-08A Mercedes' one of the most renowned engineers spoke to the New York Times about how the seven-time world champion became so successful.
According to Andrew Shovlin, it was not the work ethic, obsession, or the desire to improve that played a key role, but rather a pathological fear of losing!
"I don't think there is another driver like him. He has a completely unique perspective, and I really enjoyed working with him. He is extremely committed to success and demands the same from everyone else. But what truly made him great, what is his real superpower, is his almost pathological fear of losing. He is horrified by it, which is why he does everything to avoid it, constantly influencing those around him to do the same. I don't know any other competitor who has this mentality so strongly present. It is obvious that we all hate losing, but the worry felt because of it and the desire to do everything to counteract it places Lewis Hamilton far above the others." - Shovlin spoke highly of their former driver.
What do you think, will Lewis Hamilton's fear strengthen or weaken at Scuderia Ferrari?
