Should the Italian police be worried about Hamilton's test?
2025-01-14They are "expecting" an unprecedented number of visitors in Fiorano for Lewis Hamilton's first Ferrari test. According to a journalist, the Italian police are worried because they believe this situation poses a serious security risk...
Journalist Roberto Chinchero spoke in an F1 podcast about the incredible tumultuous scenes that should be prepared for in both Maranello and Fiorano. Chinchero is likely not speaking nonsense; as a local, he knows well the temperament of the Tifosi and the Italian people in general. He is not alone in his concern:
"The Scuderia Ferrari fans in Italy have been eagerly awaiting the moment when Lewis Hamilton will get into a red car from the very first moments. I honestly can't imagine what awaits us in Maranello and Fiorano. There will be an incredible number of people on the streets, which poses a security risk in some sense. The local police are not at ease, which I completely understand; they will have a serious challenge ahead of them. Of course, this is not surprising; the media has played a big role in this, and not just the automotive/motorsport magazines.
The mainstream media is constantly occupied with Hamilton, which has skyrocketed the already significant interest..." - said Chinchero.
