Russell: "I will carry on Hamilton's legacy!"

George Russell has always thought that the best driver in the world is on the other side of the Mercedes pit, against whom, if he manages to prove himself, he could one day become a world champion.

Now Russell is here, and he wants to enforce that promise for himself. For two seasons, he has consistently outperformed Lewis Hamilton within the team, so theoretically, he just needs a competitive car to carry out his mission:

Many great young drivers will arrive in Formula 1 by 2025, and at this point, you realize that – although you are not old yet – you are no longer young. My career has reached a new chapter after I closed the first phase, and I am moving on to the next. When Lewis Hamilton started winning countless world championships, he was already older than me, and now it is my turn to follow that example. I feel that I am heading in the right direction, I am ready to take on the role that is assigned to me.
