Marko, the party pooper: "Max would beat Hamilton even in a medium car..."
2025-01-23
While all existing Formula 1-related portals wag their tails this week as Lewis Hamilton FAN SITES, Helmut Marko has come again, seen, and said a wheel!
According to the veteran of Red Bull Racing, it is clear as day that Max Verstappen is by far the best in the current F1 grid, and Lewis Hamilton is far from him:
"Let's take a look at 2024. Our car has not been suitable for victory on several occasions, and it was Max who provided that extra needed for success. He became the world champion simply because he can find 0.1-0.2 tenths of a second per lap in places where no one else could. Yes, not even Lewis Hamilton! He may still be fast, but can he keep up with Max for an entire season? I doubt it. If he gets a great Ferrari and we can only provide a mediocre Red Bull for Max, the latter will still be the winner between the two. So Max Verstappen will do his job, now it's our turn to give him a car that can win not just occasionally, but consistently.
Unfortunately, this did not work in the previous season. There were times when we were the fastest, and then a week later, nothing of that pace was visible. We need to push the operational range of the car, that's what we're working on." - Helmut Marko provided insight into the long-term plans.
