Hamilton: "I figured out how to drive the Ferrari"
2025-04-14
Lewis Hamilton feels that after four races he has finally found harmony with his car, and from now on everything will be different, and the results will come.
The seven-time world champion's struggles with the red race car can also be attributed to the fact that he has not yet fully "let go" of Mercedes in his mind and the habits from there:
"It has now become clear to me that we can really get stuck in our own habits. I drove a car for a single team for a very long time, and now I am in a completely new car that requires a very different driving style and settings.
For example, there is the engine brake, which works completely differently, the brakes work differently too, and I used a different type than at Scuderia Ferrari. Here we use Brembos, while at Mercedes I was with Carbone Industrie for the past 15 years. This car demands a completely different driving style from me, so I have to adapt. And I am doing that, I am adapting, and I think I am starting to feel how to drive this machine.
Charles Leclerc, for example, brings down the weekends with a single setup, while I am trying one after another, and I already have a serious disadvantage from that. That's why my performance is fluctuating, I simply need to do a better job, and I will do that. Right now I am making everything difficult for myself, but in the next race I will try to start with a clean slate, with one setup and stick to it. I think I have figured out what it takes to be competitive, and if I apply that, I will qualify better, and if I qualify better, I will have a much better weekend!" - Lewis Hamilton stated positively.
