Hamilton: "I have never spun out..."
2024-10-22Lewis Hamilton claims that he would not have spun due to driver error in the first lap of the USA Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion attributes his retirement to a technical failure.
After the race, Hamilton was outspoken and demanded a thorough review from the team. Not only did the developments not work, but the car was even worse than before the four-week break:
„There was a similar incident in the first free practice when I spun in the third corner. This is incredibly rare; I have never spun on this track before. You could see that George Russell was struggling with this on Saturday, but he reverted to an older specification, so the problem might lie with the new development package. The car is constantly bouncing, so if I don't spin in the third corner, it would have happened in another corner or at another time. Something was wrong with the car; I struggled all weekend. I have never spun in a single race in my life. It wasn't due to a lack of concentration, but because the technique is not right. It's disappointing, but it is what it is; I’m focusing on being back in the car on Friday.” - lamented Hamilton.
