Hamilton worries: "Motorsport has become too expensive"

Lewis Hamilton expressed his concern that nowadays most entry-level categories in motorsport have become almost unaffordable. 

The seven-time world champion is also troubled by the fact that children are missing school because of the sport: 

“It has gotten incredibly expensive, even go-karting. I don’t know exactly how much a season costs in the lowest categories, but I’ve heard it’s at least three times more than when I started racing. If McLaren hadn’t supported me back then, and I hadn’t signed with Mercedes, I would have never been able to have such a career. It’s very concerning how the costs are rising.

And there’s also a lot of talk about young go-karters not attending school. Parents are putting everything on the line for them, and the kids are constantly training and racing. Most of them will never reach Formula 1, and they would greatly benefit from having knowledge in civil life that they can rely on later. It would be necessary to regulate this, for example, by tying the license to academic results. I think that would be the solution because what we have now is not good.” - Hamilton shared his opinion.
