Gasly: "We could be champions in 2026..."

Pierre Gasly came up with quite a surprising prediction. The French driver believes that due to the lucky alignment of the stars and the major rule changes in 2026, Alpine could become a serious contender!

There is a consensus in the paddock that one of the most important elements for 2026, the development of the power unit, is led by Mercedes, which has a wealth of experience in this area. Pierre Gasly is well aware of this, as well as the fact that if someone achieves outstanding results in the powertrain department, they could have serious chances in the final reckoning. And from 2026, Mercedes will be the engine supplier for Alpine.

"I am very curious to see what will happen because 2026 will be a huge opportunity when I could even win the championship. For this reason, I am preparing a lot for the next season. Let there be no misunderstanding, I will do everything in my power for success in 2025 as well, but where I finish this year does not matter at all, I am not even interested. The team and I are both aware of what we can achieve this year and what we can do next year, so we have already laid down the strategy we are working according to. As I said at the London presentation, if I were to decide, I would put all our people and all our resources behind the 2026 program at this moment. Next year, we want to fight for podiums and victories, that is our goal!" - declared the Frenchman determinedly.
