Disgusting politics: Schumacher cannot be an honorary citizen

If Michael Schumacher did not exist, probably no one in the world would be able to locate Kerpen on the map. But Schumacher exists, has existed, and we hope will continue to exist - this is something that the city leadership should understand, who are unwilling to grant him honorary citizenship.

This issue is not new; both the profession and the fans have long been trying to fight for this recognition for the seven-time world champion using various means of pressure. All in vain... Local politics has once again taken a stance, and in a more disgusting manner could not have done so:

"There is no order of merit in Kerpen. The introduction of an order of merit and the honorary citizenship associated with it is entirely the responsibility of the city council." - said the mayor, Dieter Spürck, regarding the issue.

"On March 19, 2024, the city unanimously decided to postpone the topic of awarding Michael Schumacher honorary citizenship. The factions and non-faction representatives must first vote in a factional vote on whether to introduce such a title. Since then, no request has been received on this matter." - explained the 'first' person of Kerpen, whose colleagues further emphasized this with comments like 'currently it makes no sense' and 'where does honorary citizenship begin and where does it end'...
