Bahrain: The second test day belongs to Sainz

2025-02-27 Bahrain: The second test day belongs to Sainz

The collective test days continued in Bahrain today, where a Williams was the fastest, ahead of the two Ferraris.

Thursday did not show the most ideal face of the weather either, as a cloudy, slightly rainy track welcomed the field. George Russell quickly improved on yesterday's best result, then Lewis Hamilton took the lead. In the second hour, a surprise came with such intense rainfall that work could not continue. The reason was quite ridiculous: the teams were not prepared with rain tires (WTF??)

After the forced break, Hamilton stepped it up even more, achieving the best time of the morning. Only one person could surpass this lap, Carlos Sainz, who had already come closest to Hamilton during the morning session, finishing the day on the same compound just ahead of the Brit. Sainz had an extremely productive day, leading the Williams alone, completing 120 laps without any issues. The same could not be said for Liam Lawson, who also completed a full day but struggled a lot with the technical side of Red Bull, and there are still issues regarding his confidence. McLaren "let go" of this day, as the reigning constructor's champion clearly worked on something else this time instead of chasing time results, focusing more on long stints.
