Binotto: "I wouldn't have signed Hamilton"

The former team principal of Scuderia Ferrari believes that the Italian team made a mistake by signing Lewis Hamilton. However, he thinks Hamilton made a great deal!

Binotto returned to Formula 1 this year as the CEO of Audi, but he will always remain a Ferrari supporter at heart. He believes Fred Vasseur made a mistake by acquiring Hamilton, as the focus should be much more on Charles Leclerc's talent:

„Hamilton made a very good decision by joining Ferrari; I agree with his choice. If I had to make a decision on this matter, I would not have called him to the team, because I believe the focus should be on younger drivers. There is the talented Leclerc; I think we should achieve great goals with him.

I have been cheering for Ferrari since my childhood, and our shared past cannot be erased. To this day, I keep many photos and objects from that period in my apartment. But professional decisions do not always balance with emotions; one must know how to separate them. Nevertheless, I still feel happy when Ferrari wins; I have many dear acquaintances there, and at such times, I feel that I have contributed a little to their success.” - said Binotto.
