Audi: "We want to win by 2030!"
2024-10-16This was stated by the director of the stable, Mattia Binotto. The team joining Formula 1 in 2026 does not want to be idle for long, aiming to win a championship by the end of the decade.
This is a tough commitment, but with the factory background behind the project, it is not unimaginable:
“We are not just climbing a mountain, but the Mount Everest itself. It will take several years before we are truly successful, but our goal is clear: we want to be in contention for the championship title by the end of the decade. Currently, the gap is still significant compared to what I saw at Ferrari, I could say that a chasm separates us. The infrastructure, the workforce, the mindset are different; we need to build a big team from a small one. Our performance in 2024 is exactly what it is because we are no longer focusing on 2024, but on 2026. Our work, our developments, all our concentration are directed there.
Audi entered Formula 1 to be a competitive member of the field. This will remain the case until we win, but even after that. We think long-term, we want to evolve into a winning team and be a valuable part of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport, and it’s fantastic that Audi has finally committed to it.” - stated the Italian expert.
